“Nature’s Altar” is a photograph I made while on a 4 mile hike at the Little Pend Oreille National Wildlife Preserve located between Chewelah and Colville in Washington State. I was struck by the symmetry of the tall pine in the background and it reminded me of walking up the aisle at church. I made a panorama image of the scene using a 50mm lens that emulates human vision in order to keep the proportion of the tree trunks accurate in the way that I saw it. I waited about half an hour for a cloud to move just enough to let a little sunlight in.
