Sarah and I spent four days up at Priest Lake between Christmas and New Years. It was our 10th year in a row of doing this. Last year, Sarah started making some Gel Plate prints and really established her own art practice. She has a phenomenal two room studio in the upstairs of our house. We decided it was time for us to collaborate on some art projects together and this was my first attempt to make a gel print from botanical samples. It is very similar to making a photogram in terms of using actual objects. The difference is that now I get to mix and match paint colors and build layers. My initial image came out dark but when I held it up to the window, the image positively glowed with depth and color. That is how I made this photograph of my very first abstract Gel Print. I look forward to more collaborative projects and I will be setting up Sarah’s personal page on this site to celebrate her creativity. She is a very inspiring artist!
