Cold Moon

Posted on December 25, 2023December 26, 2023

We celebrated Christmas with a fire outside. I couldn’t help but notice how bright the moon. Between December 25th and 26th this year is the last full moon of the year. It is known as the cold moon because it takes place during the longest night of the year that has a full moon.

I made this image in the darkroom as a photogram. I used a quarter and a layer of cotton to simulate the moon. The trees were made from fronds of fern. The stars are simply from the dust on the paper when I scanned the image in.

I have made a couple of different photograms with the idea of a full moon.

Picasso said the key to being creative is to remain a child and see the world for all its wonder. My Grandson and I got to share Christmas together and I draw inspiration from him.

Merry Christmas!
