Today I was listening to a fantastic interview of artist Bradley Theodore who said something that really struck me:
Imperfection is just another word for UNIQUE

I think it is the imperfections that distinguish one person from another and it is those imperfections that allow us to truly love someone. We see this idea illustrated by Robin Williams character in the film Goodwill Hunting.
In order to discover my unique style I have to be open to failure and make a lot of mistakes along the way. I also think that keeping a journal (both visual and written) helps me look back and see the distinctive pattern to my work.
I am enjoying the process and the journey. I really appreciated the part of the interview with Bradley where he talks about the scariest part coming in the middle of a project or a painting. When you start you have a clear path forward but in the middle you can’t see the end in sight but you need to persevere and have faith in your idea and your talent. I think that is what I need to focus on right now so that I can become more productive and finish my projects!
