Tao of Fish

Posted on July 22, 2024July 23, 2024

Yesterday afternoon as I was adding water to our clawfoot bathtub pond I watched in amazement as the goldfish went into a feeding frenzy. The behavior of these fish match the behavior of trout on a river. The natural instinct for fish to position themselves to eat the bugs that are flowing towards them is fascinating. The bathtub is a microcosm for the large ecosystem of fish.

Today as I finished up an hour on the treadmill I walked over to the tub to view the blooming water lily. The goldfish were actively swimming around the tub. I decided to grab my little travel camera and spend some time trying to make a photograph that shows the relationship of the fish and flowers. I must of stood there for at least 20 minutes watching the random pattern of the fish swimming as I held my camera in anticipation. It was a wonderful meditation.

Within the pond there is a harmony of life that reminds me of the Tao.
