Bleeding Heart Forest

“Bleeding Heart Forest” (2019)

Here is my most recent artwork. I spent two days composing this image from 5 photographs that I have made over the past three months. The start of the image came from a botanical study of a bleeding heart plant that was growing in the back yard of my in-laws. The beauty of the leaves was so moving. The gap in the upper right corner of the plant invited me to supplement the image with additional plants that I had photographed at Priest Lake during my recent week of camping. The maple leaves at the top of the frame went in next and then I needed to capture a tree trunk to connect the top and bottom of the frame along with some texture in the background.

I had a lot of struggle and fun making this image! I hope you enjoy it!
