Connections

Posted on March 7, 2024May 20, 2024

One of the things I love about working at a college is that the whole world seems to exist within the confines of the campus. With numerous guest speakers and a catalog of classes of every academic discipline there are so many opportunities to explore what it means to be a human being. I came across these wooden sculptures in a Humanities department display case. I couldn’t resist spending a few minutes making these photos.

The great 20th century photographer Dorthea Lange is quoted as saying that a photograph must answer two questions: Is this my world? If not, what does it have to do with my world?

I think travel and education makes me realize that everything is connected to my world in some important way. I am grateful for that.
