Sculpted Nature

Posted on December 21, 2023December 23, 2023

Just a short post today. I was playing with images again today and went back to a theme from the past which is to simplify still life images of nature by photographing them against a black background. Sarah helped me make this while on a hike near Mt. Rainier in 2018.

The image reminded me of the work of Karl Blossfeldt who made microscopic botanical studies that somehow transformed into something that could be viewed as sculpted metal artwork. With this image I am continuing to think about platinum printmaking and will revisit that soon.

Cheers,
