Magic in the garden

This summer my art practice has primarily involved making compositions from flower arrangements in the garden. Sarah and I have been building out our garden and selecting flowers to arrange into pots or raised beds. With each arrangement I am deepening my understanding of the impressionist painters who bold strokes of complimentary and analogous colors give energy to their compositions.

Choosing and potting flowers together and then caring for them each day and then making the photographs has deepened my art practice and made my decision to move my studio home this past spring feel like the right one.
